I’m a 53-yr old addict in treatment, hetero if that matters, and I had always thought the proximity of Cathedral Projects had a lot to do with the visibility of drugs in Bay Village. Geographically the Village was on the route out of the South End hotspots & about the first ‘safe’ place for users to stop & medicate … or for dealers to seek clients among local bon vivants. Perhaps in the past decade I’ve been away the Cathedral area has ceased to be the drug bazaar it was when I was active?
In either case, I would think anyone who recalls what a disaster that area was before the gay community revitalized and transformed it would practice a bit more tolerance, and seek a proactive approach which includes both sides of this argument working together.
