Good as Gold

A celebrated name in jewelry makes a splashy island debut.

Ten years ago, Jessica Hicks moved to Nantucket from less inspiring Worcester with dreams of creating cutting-edge jewelry for customers and opening a boutique of her own. At her new shop, Posh, on Nantucket’s South Wharf, Hicks expands on the prettily perforated bracelets, earrings, rings, and necklaces that have won her raves from the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, and Paris Hilton. The latest collection features giraffe and zebra patterns cut from 10- and 14-karat gold and brushed silver, and finished by hand-sanding and -grinding. The designs were inspired in part by her three-year-old—and resident muse—whose books and clothes remind Hicks of certain long-forgotten shapes and patterns. “I’ve lately been looking at life through my daughter’s eyes,” she says.
