FOR TWO DECADES, MICHELE MERCALDO HAS BEEN the Jil Sander of local jewelry design, offering beautifully restrained pieces like petite stud earrings and delicate necklaces with a mod edge. It inspired an entire new collection of bold, colorful pieces. Emphasizing the rock’s shape with an 18-karat-gold setting, she found the big-is-beautiful aesthetic to be irresistible.
