Testing… The Brazilian Blowout

For the past year the Keratin hair treatment has been the toast of salons all over town, turning frizzy locks glossy by coating them with protein. Now, the unfortunately named Brazilian Blowout has hit the strip, promising even silkier results. After having a lukewarm experience with Keratin — my hair was frizz-free but lifeless — I’m cautiously optimistic to try the Brazilian, currently exclusive to LuxLash.

Like Keratin, the process includes multiple steps, ending with flat-ironing to seal in the defrizzing magic. Unlike the patented Keratin, though, the Brazilian formula is top secret. The only ingredient advertised is açaí berry, but chemicals are evidenced by my teary eyes and a light burning sensation on my scalp. In the end, though, the Brazilian gets my vote. My mane is shiny, air-dries without rogue curlicues, and holds volume, to boot.
