What’s shaking on the city’s restaurant scene.

At Alma Nove in Hingham, chef Paul Wahlberg debuts a promising Mediterranean menu.

North End bigwig Nick Varano has opened Strega Fan Pier, a seaside outpost of his Hanover Street restaurant. He’s also teamed up with restaurateur Frank DePasquale, who, after launching "ultralounge" Splash, is still trying to re-create Miami in the Hub.

Their Ocean Club Marina Bay in Quincy features sand shipped in from Aruba. We can smell the baby oil from here….
