Testing…Skoah's Facialiscious Treatment
WHAT DID I EXPECT TO FIND at South End newcomer Skoah, the Canadian spa that offers "personal training for your skin"? A spandex-clad drill sergeant barking "Scrub harder!"? Maybe. Turns out that while the décor and attitude here may be inspired by the modern gym, the facials are pure luxury. Aesthetician Laura Small administered the signature Facialiscious treatment like a pro, demonstrating a few fitness-guru behaviors, like getting technical (per Canadian law, all Skoah products are labeled according to their chemical names — e.g., glycolic acid rather than grape-seed extract). I happily exited with a bag full of pleasantly light creams and toners, and a deep resolve to follow Small’s custom "workout" regimen — a daily ritual involving Gel Kleanser, Turbo Tonik, Skin Boost Serum, and Face Skotion. Later that week, someone even remarked that I looked "refreshed." Was it the weekend in Truro or the facial? I’ll hedge my bets and do both regularly. $120; 641A Tremont St., Boston, 857-350-4930, skoah.com.
