What’s Got Us Mad This Month: Boston Taxis

By Alexandra Hall | Boston Magazine |

For a heady moment there, it almost seemed like Boston taxis were getting all civilized. (Flat-screens? They finally take plastic? Pinch us.) But now we realize those advances just give cabbies more reasons to get crabby. They hate the Visa fees, they (understandably) hate the incessant Lionel Richie tunes coming out of those little TVs, and they certainly hate that we don’t buy their line about their card machines being “broken.” So here’s our suggestion: a special “no complaining” tip button that gives them an extra 5 percent in exchange for a little quiet. Then we can at least reach our destinations without feeling taken for a ride.
