Style Smarts

NATURE AS MUSE is nothing new, but the way Nervous System’s Jessica Rosenkrantz and Jesse Louis-Rosenberg turn their curiosity about the world around them into housewares and jewelry is fresh and unexpected. To create the intricate 3-D pieces in their “Hyphae” line, the MIT-educated designers wrote a computer program that simulates the branching vein structure found in leaves and other organic systems. So even if you don’t know much about science books — or about the math you took—  know this: A necklace or brooch this smart will catch every eye in the room.

Nylon and sterling silver “Vessel” necklace, $40, 347-637-8311,; Nylon brooch, $75, ICA Store, 100 Northern Ave., Boston, 617-478-3104,
