Real New England Weddings: Danielle Tatangelo & Alexander Bijanada
September 4, 2010, Private Residence, Belmont, Vermont
Forget the black-tie affair: Danielle Tatangelo says she always envisioned saying her vows under the clouds, “barefoot, giggling, and sneaking kisses before we were supposed to.”
Done, done, and done.
She married Alex Bijanada at her father’s 26-acre estate, called Mountain View Farm, with hay bales serving as ceremony seats and an arbor of white birches.
“We wanted it to be casual but powerful,” Danielle says — sort of like the moment they met three years earlier at a Connecticut bar. She was on a horrible date; he asked for her number when the other guy went to the restroom.
Two years, one house, and a puppy named Max later, Alex proposed, promising to make all of Danielle’s dreams come true.
Despite a downpour that lasted much of the day, the wedding was a dream. The rain stopped moments before the ceremony, providing a dramatic post-storm sky for photos. “I’ll always remember when Alex told me I was beautiful right before we said our vows,”Danielle remembers. “I felt those words in my soul.”
And though the power went out three times during the reception, the guests sang when the music stopped — ensuring a night as memorable as the surroundings.

Danielle’s rings came from online retailer Blue Nile; Alex’s band is from Kay Jewelers.
A delicate boutonniere for the groom complemented the color palette of the floral arrangements.
Danielle’s favorite color is purple, so her ’maids appropriately donned sangria-hued David’s Bridal dresses.
A vintage truck, hay bales, and painted signs kept the vibe down-to-earth.

Florist Shirley Holden opted for lots of greenery. “I wanted the floral decorations to be loose and natural,” says Danielle.
