Anderson Insulation is an Abington-based, family owned and operated company that insulates homes using various processes which create value and suit the needs of the builder and owner. Anderson Fireplace is New England’s premier company for gas fireplace products and installations. Robert Anderson is a managing partner.
Who started this family business and how did you first get involved?
Our father Eric started the company in the early 1950s and it is currently owned by our family’s second generation—brothers, Eric R., Robert, and Donald Anderson. We got involved in the business at the urging of our parents back in the 1970s. Today, we have a third generation of family members involved in running it as well, Scott Williamson, Eric G. Anderson, and Jamie Anderson.
Have you ever encountered any challenges in your family business?
It’s a challenge sometimes to remember that it is a business with a bottom line. Everyone has to be willing to go the extra mile and do what’s best for the company. Teamwork is essential, along with set roles for all, and common goals that foster growth and improvement. The excitement and pride that goes into the growth of a family business creates the energy that sustains it over time.
