Pouring It On   One-hundred-year-old truffle peddler Sabatino & Co. has set up its first U.S. shop on Newbury Street, stocking Mediterranean products — from saffron-scented olive oil to Umbrian white and black truffles in season.

Sneak peek inside
the new Local 149!

Now Serving   South Boston welcomed Local 149 last month, reviving the former Farragut House. Co-owner Jason Owens (Biltmore, American Provisions) kept a few of the pub’s original features, including a 60-year-old oak bar that bartender Mike Stankovich has stocked with 22 draft beers as well as house-made tonics and mixers. The menu by chef Leah Dubois (Stoddard’s, Grezzo) mimics the Biltmore with its chicken and waffles and fried Brussels sprouts, but also offers other gastro-comfort fare, such as clam chowder with pork belly. Owens says it’s all about breaking down barriers: “There shouldn’t be rules to how we eat. Eat what you want, when you want it.”

Touch of Spice   Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Market goes pan-Asian this month, introducing a new prix-fixe menu. It’s a riff  on his street-food-inspired New York restaurant, Spice Market, and it might actually pave the way for a Boston version, which Team JG hopes to open in 2012 (if they can nail down a location). For now, sample the fare during the 10-day transformation, which starts April 18 and features family-style platters of spiced chicken samosas, halibut with Malaysian chili sauce, and black-pepper shrimp.

Coming Right Up   Long-awaited Liberty Wharf is up and running with Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse this month. (A Legal Sea Foods outpost will open there soon; Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar and Grill and Temazcal Tequila Cantina are already serving.) The Texas-based chain plans to fill the 13,000-square-foot space with 15 wine cellars and a floor-to-ceiling wine wall. On the menu you’ll find prime aged beef and seafood fresh from pier neighbor Foley Seafood. Speaking of fish, Jasper White tells us he has plans for a Summer Shack Dedham; watch for a late-spring opening.
