Get This: Patterned Tights

This month, splurge on a pair of thick, knit statement stockings.

By Blythe Copeland

Finding motivation to hit the gym is even harder come winter, when wool trousers, flannel pajamas, or ski pants can easily cover up your untoned and pasty-white gams. But this season’s diverse selection of knit, patterned, and embellished tights might just inspire you to do your legwork. Taking cues from Victorian-era knit hosiery, as well as USO girls’ slightly scandalous nylons, the new styles look modern when matched (or intentionally mismatched) with minis, bubble skirts, or winter shorts. Try a textured pair in a solid color with black platforms, gold stilettos, or jazzy flats, or give your legs the starring role with graphic floral, flashy rhinestone, or contrasting plaid versions—all of which are surely worth a few extra yogalates classes.
