Northeastern poli sci grad student Chris Chanyasulkit and systems analyst Jim Bardin’s three-and-a-half year courtship survived stressful exams and a sightseeing tour of Thailand—sans regular showers. So when wedding logistics proved tricky, they weren’t worried. Because much of Chris’s family lives in Thailand, invitations had to be translated and cultural confusion clarified—“Thai weddings typically feature Vegas-style live entertainment,” notes Chris—all within a five-month time frame. Still, the pair managed to find time for tango lessons, resulting in a reception performance straight out of Dancing with the Stars. Even better, the officiant, former governor Michael Dukakis, followed suit. Says Chris: “He and Kitty stole the show!”

Jim and Chris are all smiles as they enter Longwood Towers’ Veronique Ballroom. She nabbed her Alfred Angelo gown for $270—$1,000 off the retail price—at the Bridal Event at Filene’s Basement.
