Makeup artist Lauren Arbeene met Chris Genatossio on a girl’s night out, but she was getting over an ex and was hardly ready to get serious. Over the next few years, whenever they’d run into each other, “he’d say, ‘Can’t we just date? It’s not like we have to get married,’” Lauren remembers. Finally, after yet another chance encounter, she agreed. Flash forward two years and the couple was planning a Mediterranean-themed wedding. Lauren, a University of Miami alum, originally wanted an intimate beach ceremony, but they quickly ruled it out to accommodate Chris’s big family. Through it all, the happy duo stuck to their biggest lesson learned: You don’t mess with fate.
During their ceremony, Lauren and Chris exchange the same crowns her parents wore during their own wedding (at the same church).
