Not Your Average Dive
A savvier way to take in the Hotel Indigo's swish pool scene.

Urbanites who think they’re spoiled by sun-soaked afternoons at a certain hotel’s exclusive rooftop pool now have reason to reconsider the ’burbs. But it’ll cost ’em: A respite on the pool deck at Newton’s posh new Hotel Indigo—formerly the Holiday Inn next to the Riverside T station—requires guests to lay out at least $160 for a room (day passes aren’t available). To enjoy one of the four 200-square-foot, eight-person cabanas—outfitted with luxe sectional sofas, plasma TVs, and cabana boys—it’s another $100, plus a $150 food-and-drink minimum.
The less spendy aren’t completely left out to dry, though: Non-guests are welcome at the Indigo’s twice-monthly poolside concerts. Upcoming shows include Berlin (8/14) and the Knack (9/4), with tickets starting at $20. A high-end Klipsch sound system with 56 concert-style speakers ensure acoustics are impressively sharp all around.
