The Illusionist

By Courtney Cox

Boston-born Edward Norton stars as the magician Eisenheim, who can grow an orange tree out of thin air but can’t master the trick of winning back a childhood love (Jessica Biel) who’s engaged to the magician’s most adamant skeptic. When a police inspector (Paul Giamatti) tries to stall Eisenheim’s rise, the magician has to plot his greatest deception yet. Set in idyllic Vienna against music composed by Philip Glass, the film hangs somewhere between dream and reality, underscoring the jarring dénouement.
