Election Night Events in Boston: Where to Go When the Polls Are Closed

Alas: Election Day is here. Time to cast your vote, celebrate a new presidential term, and watch YouTube videos and TV in peace without being bombarded by obnoxious campaign ads. Mitt Romney will be in Boston with his supporters, and while he certainly parties in style, most of us will probably celebrate in front of our own TVs. But if you decide to venture out on the town to rejoice (or drink away your sorrows) as the election results are broadcasted, check out our list of places to party it up tonight.
Towne Stove and Spirits
This bar’s Election Night slogan is: “Open to all parties, influenced by none.” If that doesn’t welcome you enough, perhaps pairing election-inspired cocktails (think: Swing State Spritzer) and free appetizers with live election coverage will be enough to lure you in. Whether you side with the donkey or the elephant, feel free to let your inner party animal loose.

Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen
The Howard University Alumni Club of Greater Boston will host a “Super Tuesday Watch Party” at Darryl’s, so snag some good eats, have a few beers or specialty drinks (a Whiskey Smash during and perhaps a Bitter End afterward) and await the post-election ruckus.

Lansdowne Pub
Hosted by Socializing for Justice and New Leaders Council’s Boston Chapter, this Fenway area election celebration will include more free “I Voted!” stickers. Donations for Hurricane Sandy relief will also be collected. Relax, listen to music, hang out at the bar, and watch election night coverage in this casual, fun pub venue.

Moksa and Naga
Whether you use it as comfort food during or after the election, stuff your face with some Asian dumplings, spring rolls, and noodles at Moksa and its joint club Naga—which recently joined the Cambridge nightlife scene and is where the real party will happen. Watch the returns (after you vote, of course) and take part in dancing, lounging, and commemorating on this historic Tuesday.

Upstairs on the Square
There isn't necessarily a planned election viewing event at this popular Cambridge restaurant, but there is an array of menu items specifically made for you to chow down on as Obama and Romney duke it out. They’ve got a PBS Smoked Big Bird, A Cheesy Candidate, A Green Party Pizza, and Red-Cooked, Right-Winged Chicken Wings. As far as cocktails, try the Binders Full of Women. Reason enough to stop by? We think so.

Faneuil Hall
Starting at 7 p.m., check out the bars and restaurants in the Faneuil Hall area, as many will be showing CNN election coverage and providing the perfect downtown spot to anticipate the end results. There may be no better place to celebrate democracy than along the cobblestone streets of some of the oldest pubs in the country.
