Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale Are Shooting a David O. Russell Movie in Boston

With so many new film projects in the pipeline, it looks like Boston is the right place for A-list celebrity sightings this month. Actors in an untitled project by David O. Russell (director of Lowell-based film The Fighter) were in town last week shooting on the streets of Boston and will continue shooting through the end of this week. According to a press release, Hollywood actors Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and Jeremy Renner are signed to the project, and in February, recent Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence was added to the cast.

The film, also known as its working title, American Bullshit (also referred to as Abscam Project), is about a financial con-man (Bale) who was caught by an out-of-control federal agent (Cooper) along with his girlfriend (Adams) in the 1970s. Lawrence will play the con-man’s wife. In addition, Boston-bred comedian Louis CK is rumored to join the cast.

Although shooting was planned to begin today, cast members were already spotted out and about in Boston last week. Just last Tuesday night, Cooper surprised an audience at the AMC Loews Boston Common for an impromptu Q&A during a screening of his latest movie The Place Beyond the Pines. Renner, who was in town March 6 for Restoration Hardware’s VIP opening party, was photographed Wednesday walking the streets of Boston in costume alongside Amy Adams. According to commenters on OnLocationVacations.com, Bale was spotted shopping at a Whole Foods with his wife and daughter.

Cooper was again photographed on Saturday sporting pink hair curlers and washboard abs when emerging from his trailer, and then sans-curlers later that evening in the North End.

OnLocationVacations also provided details on very specific shooting locations. Here’s what they’ve gathered:

1. Some shooting will take place on Cambridge Street today, Wednesday, and Thursday.
2. Shooting will also take place at 146 Bowdoin Street in Dorchester today.
3. Trailers and signs saying “Untitled Base Camp” have been set up around 1250 Boylston Street in the Fenway area.
4. According to local residents on Twitter, many with undisclosed addresses have gotten notices from the production company about shooting in their neighborhoods on March 28 and 29.
5. Finally, commenters at OLV claim that both Renner and Adams love karaoke bars.
