Mark and Donnie Wahlberg to Star in New A&E Reality Show Wahlburgers

It's about (duh) Wahlburgers, their family-run hamburger restaurant in Hingham.

Donnie Wahlberg appeared on The Arsenio Hall Show last night and announced that he and brother Mark Wahlberg—along with several other members of the Wahlberg clan—would appear in a new reality show on A&E called Wahlburgers. It’s about (duh) the family’s hamburger restaurant, Wahlburgers, in Hingham, Mass.

Donnie and Mark are executive producers for the unscripted series, which is slated to premiere January 22 on A&E after Duck Dynasty (not a bad time slot). Their brother Paul Wahlberg, the executive chef of Wahlburgers (who also runs Alma Nove) will be in the show, along with appearances by the brothers’ mom, Alma, and other old Boston chums. The show will center around the Hingham location, of course, though fans in Canada should know that a second Wahburgers is in the works for Toronto.

While the reality show has already been in the works since at least January 2013, now we know when and where to see members of the Wahlberg family together in their hometown of Boston. OK, so what if A&E’s last attempt to portray Boston was an epic failure? (Southie Rules, anyone?) We’re confident that a show run by Mark and Donnie will meet (and hopefully exceed) expectations.

Donnie also promoted season 2 of Boston’s Finest yesterday, pointing out that season 2 takes place after the Boston Marathon bombings. The attack will no doubt be covered in the return of Boston’s Finest, although in what depth is still uncertain. The popular Boston police docu-series premieres November 26 on TNT.
