Matthew McConaughey Wore a Fanny Pack to Fenway Park

And he doesn't care that you hate his fanny pack.

Matthew McConaughey—Academy Award winning actor, Texan, flawless human—made his way over to Fenway Park with his son to catch the Sox take on the Houston Astros a few nights ago.

CSN reporter Julia Morales sat down with McConaughey in the stands at Fenway, and pointed out that he was wearing a fanny pack. “People didn’t believe me that these were coming back in style. And you’re saying they never left?” Morales asks.

“I’m not afraid of the fanny pack,” McConaughey said. “You gotta kinda put it on the side to make it look a little not as nerdy, but still, practicality wins out. I got so much gear in here that I don’t want in my pockets.”

The actor, who grew up cheering for the Astros, also told NESN’s Elle Duncan at the game that he’s a baseball fan in general, and his son has been in the Red Sox camp for kids this past week. Even better, he also tells Duncan that he’s shooting his movie in “Wooocester” (Oh, that accent).

But even though we’re a little worried about Matthew McConaughey’s choice of style, what’s even more concerning is that the folks sitting in the actor’s proximity at Fenway seem to have no idea what’s going on. Do they not know they’re in the presence of greatness?

Alright, alright, alright.
