Anita Antoinette Wows the Judges with Her Voice Audition

The Berklee grad picked Team Gwen.

Second time’s a charm for Berklee grad Anita Antoinette.

The Kingston, Jamaica, native who moved to the states when she was 8 tried out for the singing competition The Voice a few years ago in season 3, but wasn’t chosen by any of the judges.

Antoinette said that the rejection felt like “all of [her] dreams crashed at once,” and even caused her to suffer severe stage fright in the years following.

On Monday night’s episode of The Voice, however, Antoinette returned to the show with renewed confidence, singing another Bob Marley song, “Turn Your Lights Down Low.”

Almost immediately, judges Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani hit their buttons, with fellow judges Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams swinging around their big red chairs not long after. They even gave her a standing ovation.

“What have you been doing since Blake and Adam didn’t choose you?” Gwen asked during the pandering portion of the audition.

Her dig worked. Antoinette decided to join Team Gwen. Stefani was so pleased that she squealed with glee, kicked up her Louboutins, and did a little dance on her way up to the stage.
