If you think that summer fun at Assembly Row—Somerville’s latest and greatest shopping and entertainment complex—comes mainly in the form of air-conditioned bliss paired with a summer blockbuster at their state-of-the-art movie theater…well, you’re not wrong, but there are plenty of other diversions afoot over the next few months.

From farmers markets and fun runs, to outdoor concerts and fireworks, here’s what you can look forward to at Assembly this season.

Turns out, you can shop local at the mall. Launching June 7, Assembly Row will host a full lineup of produce and food vendors, as well as musicians, community booths, and other entertainment.

—Eversource Walk for Boston’s Children Hospital—
$25 registration fee for adults ($5 children 12 and under), June 14, 10 a.m. (seven-mile walk), 11 a.m. (two-mile walk)

Thousands of walkers flock to this annual fundraiser. Whether goers opt to do two miles or seven, the walk kicks off at Sylvester Baxter Riverfront Park, running along the Mystic River—and raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity.

—Row It Forward—
August 10-23

If you’ve ever sought refuge from the dog-days-of-summer heat at the mall, Assembly Row has just the thing for you. For two weeks in August, shoppers can rack up points (one dollar equals one point) for their chosen nonprofit; at stake for the winning nonprofit is a $20,000 first prize. Register here; registration closes June 13.

—Race to the Row 5K—
August 23, 9:30 a.m., $35 registration ($40 day-of registration)

Hosted by the Somerville Road Runners (and with proceeds going to local nonprofits), this family-friendly run/walk returns for a third year. Afterward, carb up with slices from Ernesto’s Pizza and cool down with scoops from JP Licks.

—Riverfest—
September 12, 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Assembly Row and Sylvester Baxter Riverfront Park

Not ready to say goodbye to the days of sun and fun by the time September rolls around? You’ll be in good company at the eighth annual Somerville Riverfest, which comes complete with live music, art, food, and a sidewalk sale. At the end of the night, send summer off with a bang, with a fireworks display over the Mystic.
