Joey McIntyre Is Getting His Own Comedy Series

The New Kids on the Block star is heading back to the small screen.

After the success of reality series Rock This Boat: New Kids On The Block, Pop (formerly known as TVGN) is going all in to appeal to nostalgic Blockheads.

According to Deadline, the network is currently developing a half-hour comedy series starring none other than Joey McIntyre. The NKOTB star will reportedly play a fictionalized version of himself as he tries to balance spending time with his family and working as a host of a talk show.

In addition to being the lead, McIntyre will serve as an executive producer alongside his bandmate Donnie Wahlberg, Jenny McCarthy, Jenny Daly, Paul Greenberg, and Tim Gibbons.

There’s no word yet on when the series–tentatively titled the Joey McIntyre Project–will hit the smallscreen, but don’t be surprised if a few celebrity guests stop by the show after it debuts.

The upcoming Pop series isn’t McIntyre’s first try at breaking into the sitcom world. The NKOTB heartthrob previously starred in the short-lived and Boston-set CBS comedy The McCarthys, which was critically panned and only lasted for one season.

Hopefully his next attempt at being a sitcom star goes a bit better.
