John Krasinski Says He Wasn’t ‘Genuinely in Love’ with Jenna Fischer on The Office

Wait, they were only pretending? Shocking.

The Internet went a little bonkers when Jenna Fischer opened up about the chemistry she had with her former co-star John Krasinski on a recent episode of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live.

Fans of The Office were giddy over the chance that there really was something behind Jim and Pam’s onscreen romance after Fischer said that a part of the actors were “genuinely in love” while filming the hit NBC comedy.

“John and I have real chemistry. There’s like a real part of me that is Pam and a real part of him that is Jim, and those parts of us were genuinely in love with one another,” she said. “But in real life, we aren’t totally Pam and totally Jim, so in real life, we’re not the perfect match.”

Obviously, Fischer didn’t say that she was head over heels for the Massachusetts born actor, but that didn’t stop fans and media members from running with the story.

Krasinski felt like he needed to clarify the “wildly misquoted” comment during an interview with the Daily Beast.

“I’m sure she was trying to say something nice about how genuine the acting relationship was, of bringing a relationship that became that popular onscreen—and I think we both feel it’s such an honor to be a part of that relationship,” Krasinski said. “As far as how she was quoted about saying we were ‘genuinely in love,’ I think that was taken wildly out of context and I feel bad for her.”

So apparently the actors only pretended to be in love. Shocking.

As for Krasinski’s real life romance with his wife Emily Blunt, the 13 Hours star added that he couldn’t be happier.

“When you’re lucky enough to meet your one person then life takes a turn for the best. It can’t get better than that,” Krasinski said.

According to US Weekly, the couple is expecting their second child, which may be music to Krasinski’s ears.

Even though the actor said he had an “existential crisis” following the birth of his first child Hazel, Krasinski gushed over his daughter on Ellen and recently told People that fatherhood has changed him for the better.

“I got to understand my parents better. I got to understand my wife better,” he said. “I got to understand how lucky I am to be in the fox hole with someone I can rely on 150 percent.”

Since fans are probably heartbroken over Jim and Pam’s love never materializing behind the cameras, it’s good to know that Krasinski is still a great husband and dad in real life.
