Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler Announces Solo Tour Dates

Here's when the Demon of Screamin' will return to Boston.

Boston-bred rocker Steven Tyler is going back on tour this summer, but this time, he’s going solo.

The Aerosmith frontman and possible wizard recently announced that he will be embarking on a 19-city run titled the “Steven Tyler… Out on a Limb” tour, which kicks off on Saturday, July 2 in Las Vegas. The Demon of Screamin’ will make his return to Boston at the Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre on Sunday, September 4.

Tyler has been taking a break from his Aerosmith duties lately in order to focus on his budding country career, including a new solo record that will be released this year, although his bandmates haven’t really been fans of the move.

Guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, in particular, seemed disappointed with Tyler as they had hoped to go on another Aerosmith tour this year.

“He changed his mind and it kind of blindsided us a little bit, so I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Whitford told Boston magazine last year. “It’s just so disappointing because he’s my brother and I kind of feel like he let me down a little bit. But I love him to death.”

While Tyler is focusing on his solo projects in 2016, he did recently admit that Aerosmith will likely be going on a farewell tour in 2017.
