Bill Simmons will be staying true to his Boston roots for the first episode of his new HBO show.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the sports guru has booked Ben Affleck for an interview on Any Given Wednesday, Simmons’s new talk show which debuts on June 22.

Joining the noted Boston sports fans will be none other than legendary NBA player turned analyst Charles Barkley, presumably to balance out all the cheering for the Celtics and Patriots.

It seems like Simmons is finally getting his wish as the former ESPN writer and talking head revealed during his cover story for the Hollywood Reporter that he would love to book big, Boston stars for his show, like Affleck, Matt Damon, or even Bill Belichick.

“I know by episode four I’ll probably end up with the fifth lead on some CW sitcom, but for now I’m dreaming big,” Simmons said.

EW reports that the show will run for 20 episodes and will cover everything from pop culture and entertainment to sports and technology. Each week will also feature conversations with guests and other segments.

In addition to Any Given Wednesday, Simmons has worked with HBO to produce a post-game show of sorts called After the Thrones, which began airing after the debut of the sixth season of Games of Thrones earlier this year.

The venture into the world of television comes on top of the recent launch of his new sports website, The Ringer.
