After taking reality television by storm with Rock This Boat, Joey McIntyre is sailing back to the small screen with his own scripted comedy series.

Tentatively titled the Joey McIntyre Project, the New Kids on the Block member’s new show has recently been given an eight episode order by Pop TV and will head into production this fall. McIntyre will star in the series and serve as an executive producer alongside Donnie Wahlberg, Jenny McCarthy, Tim Gibbons, Paul Greenberg, and Jenny Daly.

The premise of the show should look familiar to McIntyre fans as the half hour comedy will be inspired by the NKOTB star’s real life. The fictionalized version of McIntyre will have to juggle life as a father with being a boy band member who hopes to make it as an actor.

“I lucked out. What are the chances of me being cast as a character named Joey McIntyre?” McIntyre said in a statement. “But in all seriousness, if you love to laugh, we have a comedy gold team behind this project who have the secret sauce for funny TV… yes, I just said that.”

According to Deadline, Wahlberg will play McIntyre’s agent on the show, although it may be more of “big bro, consigliere” type of role.

“I’ve worked with Joey since we were kids,” Wahlberg said in a statement. “But seeing all of his many talents come together in this show—I’ve never been more excited.”

This isn’t the first time that McIntyre has starred in a scripted comedy series. He previously had a role on the short-lived CBS show The McCarthys.
