John Krasinski Said No to Captain America After Seeing Chris Hemsworth’s Hot Body

The actor revealed on Conan that he didn't become an Avenger because of Thor.

John Krasinski came pretty close to playing Captain America, but Chris Hemsworth sort of ruined his shot at superhero stardom.

The former Office star stopped by Conan on Tuesday night and revealed to the late-night host that he once auditioned for the role of the Star-Spangled Avenger. He was nearly cast in the part and even got a chance to put on the costume for a test screening.

While the Massachusetts actor and admitted Marvel fan was initially psyched for the gig, leave it up to Thor to rain on his parade.

Krasinski told Conan O’Brien that he knew he could never play Captain America after seeing Hemsworth’s hot body on set. The moment was particularly painful for Krasinski as he was shirtless at the time and didn’t have his jacked 13 Hours physique yet.

“Chris Hemsworth walked by as Thor and went, ‘Hi mate,'” Krasinski said. “I went, ‘I’m good. This is stupid. I shouldn’t.’ That’s OK, I’m not Captain America. It’s fine.”

The role, of course, went to fellow Massachusetts native Chris Evans, although it would’ve been pretty interesting to see Jim Halpert suit up to fight H.Y.D.R.A. and interstellar aliens.
