Don’t be alarmed if you see tons of boxers and briefs while riding the MBTA this weekend.

The pantsless commuters will likely be participants in the annual “No Pants Subway Ride” prank, which returns to Boston on Sunday, January 8. The festivities are organized locally each year by BostonSOS (Society of Shenanigans), a community group that routinely puts together flash mobs, urban adventures, and other interesting events around town.

This year’s “No Pants Subway Ride” will once again kick off from Pemberton Square, where fully-clothed revelers will gather before heading out to their assigned routes in smaller groups. Participants will then strip down to their underwear once they’re safely aboard the train.
