The Pixies Are Going on Tour Again

If recent global events have you wondering such deep philosophical questions as, “Where is my mind?”, we have good news for you: The Pixies are hitting the road again. The seminal alt rock group has announced a North American tour, and given that the band got started in Massachusetts, they’re naturally playing a few local dates. You can see them at the House of Blues on May 19 and 20, and if you act very very quickly, you may still be able to get tickets to the third show, which is at the Paradise on Sunday, May 21. Because you want to try to make eye contact with Frank Black while he’s scream-singing about UMass, right? It’s educational.

A press release indicates the band will be playing a mix of classics, “catalog rarities,” and new music from later albums Indie Cindy and Head Carrier, with no confirmed set list. The release promises that the band has about 90 songs that they’re ready to play, and will be picking them as they go along each night. The lineup will be the core group that have been playing together for a few years, as in, the one that Kim Deal is not in. But Paz Lenchantin has been filling in pretty capably in her place on the bass.
