This Saturday, January 26, the South Shore Music Hall in Quincy will hold its grand opening with headlining bands Fear Nuttin Band, which will bring a mix of rock and reggae and might be a 2013 big breakout band, and Big Ol’ Dirty Bucket, which makes use of an abundance of horns and assembles unique, funky tunes. Local artists Klokwize and Research & Development are also expected to perform.

South Shore Music Hall, conveniently close to the highway and train lines, plans to attract all types of musical groups, both regionally and nationally, to the South Shore area. The overall vision of the newly renovated venue, which has been closed since New Year's Eve, is to host original, progressive, talented bands and musicians of all different genres—rock, funk, reggae, hip-hop, blues, and more. The expanding lineup so far includes Gang of Thieves, Mello Bravo, Bob Marley’s grandson Biggz General, Simplified, Danny Pease and the Regulators, The Hornitz, Waylon Speed, Funkwagon, and Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty, among others.

Martin Newell, a talent buyer for the Music Hall, said a lot of hard work has been put into readying the new music hotspot for the opening, and “staff shirts will still be drying on [their] backs when the doors open at 8 p.m.” after they spend all day this Friday putting in new lights.

“We recognize that Boston and surrounding areas are filled with talented musicians, and we will provide a place for them to showcase their music, whether that be as a headline act or as support for national acts visiting on tour,” said Newell. “Our staff, attitude, and facilities will make us the type of place people will love to see a show.”

This weekend's grand opening will begin on Saturday at 8 p.m. at 58 Ross Way in Quincy. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the door. The event is 21+. For tickets and more information, visit facebook.com/southshoremusichall.
