Do-Gooder Ben Affleck Strikes Again with Chime for Change
This time for women's empowerment with Beyonce, Madonna, and all the biggest divas by his side.
The Sound of Change concert has received a lot of publicity this summer, and it’s well deserved considering the concert’s headliners include the baddest divas in the business: Beyonce, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, and more. Elle magazine even goes to say that this may be the biggest girl power musical event since the Spice Girls made a movie. Sound of Change will only be the most fantastic musical event ever, filled with the world’s favorite prima donnas—and of course, who else but Ben Affleck appears in a series of promos as the women’s cheerleader. Go Ben!
The Sound of Change event is put together by an organization called Chime for Change, an initiative led by Beyonce, Salma Hayek, and Frida Giannini, the creative director of Gucci, to “empower women by raising funds and awareness for education, health, and justice for all ladies.”
Ben Affleck stands alongside actresses Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, Julia Roberts, and singers Katy Perry and Florence Welch, in a set of several videos promoting the campaign’s slogan: “This is the sound of progress; this is the sound of connection; this is the sound of change; let’s make some noise!”
Do-gooder Ben Affleck is quite the busy guy these days. Affleck did Boston proud as the host of Saturday Night Live‘s season finale two weeks ago (check out a recap here), and recently collaborated with shoe brand TOMS to create a charitable shoe line for his Eastern Congo Initiative. Oh, and he was also living on $1.50 a day in support of world hunger, while casually putting together a Dennis Lehane movie. All that, and then he got a doctorate degree from Brown University—this guy’s seriously doing something right. Hey, Matt Damon, get on board, will ya?
The Sound of Change concert will include guest appearances from many other stars including Timbaland, James Franco, Jessica Chastain, Zoe Saldana, Blake Lively, and many, many more. The concert event will take place live in London on Saturday, June 1, and will air on NBC in the U.S. on Sunday, June 2 at 9 p.m.
