Marty Walsh Did a Little Irish Jig With The Dropkick Murphys in Dorchester
They threw their support behind the mayoral hopeful during a concert on Thursday night.
Mayoral candidate and City Councilor John Connolly may have the Bad Rabbits on his side, but he never got to dance with them on stage.
On Thursday night, members of the Boston-based, Celtic-themed punk group the Dropkick Murphys showed their support for mayoral hopeful Marty Walsh, a Democratic state representative, during an acoustic set at Dorchester’s Florian Hall. The sold out show also featured an appearance by comedian Steve Sweeney. The event cost attendees $20—about $60 less than it would have cost to see the band in a much larger venue.

The Dropkick Murphys got Walsh on stage during the event—very briefly—and took him for an arm-in-arm, Irish-jig-style twirl in front of supporters. What song did he do the little two-step to? The overly-played “Shipping Up to Boston,” of course.
