Mark Wahlberg Is Hosting Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards
And he’s about to get slimed.
Awards season doesn’t end with the Oscars, friends. Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards is a show that should never be overlooked, especially since Mark Wahlberg (the one and only) was tapped to host this year.
Wahlberg has spent a lot of time in the spotlight lately: his new reality show on A&E, Wahlburgers, has drawn wicked ratings, and he starred in the Oscar-nominated picture Lone Survivor. Now Wahlberg will host the 27th annual fan-voted Kids’ Choice Awards at the University of Southern California’s Galen Center.
Nick has released its first promo video with Wahlberg attempting to dodge the network’s notorious green slime:
Russell Hicks, Nickelodeon’s president of content development and production, told the Hollywood Reporter, “We are thrilled to welcome a superstar like Mark Wahlberg as he takes the helm as our master of ceremonies at the biggest kid event of the year.”
Wahlberg seems like a fitting host for the award show; he’s the star of Transformers 4, due to premiere this summer, and is also the founder of the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, which benefits urban children and teens.
The Kids’ Choice Awards has a long history of drawing in great ratings with notable celebrity appearances and loads of green slime. Last year’s show drew 5.8 millions viewers. Past hosts include Justin Timberlake, Will Smith, Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, and Ben Stiller.
The KCAs will air live on Saturday, March 29, at 8 p.m. on Nickelodeon.
