A Fighting Chance by Elizabeth Warren

Elizabeth Warren fans, this is your chance to meet the one and only say-it-like-it-is, rip-those-blowhards-a-new-one senator.

While back in the day, Warren made her living as a Harvard professor, it was not until after she was appointed to the Congressional Oversight Panel for the 2008 bailout that she won over the hearts of frustrated citizens across the nation (and made plenty of Republican enemies too, of course). From there, Warren’s influence and fame only grew. The Obama-approved law expert ran against Scott Brown for Senate in 2012 and won. (Bqhatevwr.)

Now that Senator Warren is set to promote her new memoir A Fighting Chance, it should come as no surprise that she’d visit her old stomping grounds at Harvard. Sponsored by Harvard Book Store and Boston Review, her author talk later this month will take place just a few steps from campus at First Parish Church (tickets go on sale Tuesday for $5).

Warren will discuss various topics from A Fighting Chance, from her upbringing in Oklahoma City, to becoming a professor at Harvard, to her current role as senior U.S. Senator from Massachusetts. Anecdotes offer a personable assist to her political endeavors to support the middle class—expect plenty of applause for her relentless TARP-bashing, as well as the establishment of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Tickets for Elizabeth Warren’s author talk go on sale April 1 at 9 a.m. and cost $5; call 617-661-1515 or go to harvard.com.

The discussion will take place Thursday, April 24, at 7 p.m. at First Parish Church, 1446 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge. A Fighting Chance comes out April 22. Signed copies are available for pre-order.
