It’s been a banner week for Jeff Bauman, the Boston Marathon survivor who lost both legs in the April 2013 attack, and later identified the suspects allegedly responsible while recovering in his hospital bed.

Just one day after announcing that his fiancé gave birth to the couple’s daughter, Nora Gail Bauman, news surfaced that Bauman’s best-selling book, Stronger, which details his journey from the day of the Boylston Street bombings to learning how to walk on two prosthetic legs, is being made into a film with the help of some well-known Hollywood producers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, Bauman’s book will be adapted to the big-screen with the help of producers Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman, and Scott Silver, the writer behind The Fighter and Eminem’s faux-biopic 8 Mile. “All three worked together on [the] Oscar-nominated pic The Fighter,” the report said, adding that Peter McGuigan will executive produce and John Pollono will be in charge of putting together the script.

Lionsgate, who picked up the story after some recent negotiations, is backing the development of the movie along with Mandeville Films.

Bauman’s book was released back in April, around the one-year anniversary of the marathon attack. Within a week of it hitting the shelves, it landed on the New York Times best-seller list.

There’s no word yet on who could play Bauman in the movie, which will detail his triumph of recovery, and how he identified the two men allegedly responsible for placing bags containing bombs right near where he was standing along the race’s route. The other big question that lingers is who will play Carlos Arredondo, the man in the cowboy hat credited with saving Bauman’s life after the blasts.

Bauman’s story isn’t the first to become an on-screen production. While countless documentaries have been made about the marathon attack, a television show based on that day’s events is also in the works.
