Ben Affleck Slams Donald Trump Over Meryl Streep Tweet
The actor chatted with Jimmy Kimmel about the Golden Globes feud.
Ben Affleck offered his thoughts on the Meryl Streep vs. Donald Trump feud during Monday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The president-elect’s latest clash with a celebrity occurred after Streep’s powerful Golden Globes speech, which bashed Trump for mocking a disabled reporter while on the campaign trail. As usual, the incoming president took to Twitter to respond to Streep, calling her “one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood” and a “Hillary flunky.”
Affleck, who once had an interesting encounter with Trump in Milan, slammed the president-elect over his tweets.
“If there’s one thing truly in the world that we know it’s not true, it’s that Meryl Streep is overrated,” Affleck told Kimmel. “If you look up in an encyclopedia ‘great actress,’ there’s a picture of Meryl Streep.”
“It’s like Gandhi: terrible leader!” he added. “Pick a better shot rather than the person who’s photograph actually accompanies ‘great actress.’”
Aside from the Trump talk, Affleck had an otherwise pleasant experience watching his brother Casey win best actor in a drama at this year’s Golden Globes. However, he just wished his younger sibling gave him a shoutout during his acceptance speech instead of Matt Damon.
“I was a little taken aback,” Affleck joked. “If it’s me, I thank people.”
