Noted Sox fan Joe Pernice crafts a pop song as if he were relacing a vintage mitt—with patience and more than a little wistfulness. The Boston band is on something of a roll, having released a DVD and two albums in the past two years. Live a Little features full-blown arrangements (strings, organs) that take away nothing from Pernice’s breathy vocals. Unlike the Sox, the Brothers’ latest serving of dream pop proves they’re still swinging for the fences. —James Sullivan
