Noted Sox fan Joe Pernice crafts a pop song as if he were relacing a vintage mitt—with patience and more than a little wistfulness. The Boston band is on something of a roll, having released a DVD and two albums in the past two years. Live a Little features full-blown arrangements (strings, organs) that take away nothing from Pernice’s breathy vocals.
