NEMO Rocks the Hub
Screw South By Southwest and other far-flung festivals. Boston’s own NEMO is bringing three gloriously jam-packed days of live music right to the Hub.
Screw South By Southwest and other far-flung festivals. Boston’s own NEMO is bringing three gloriously jam-packed days of live music right to the Hub. The music marathon will feature upwards of 300 bands at over 30 venues around town, along with a music conference for emerging artists that will include panel discussions, a trade show, and cocktail parties, not to mention a bands-only V.I.P. party house.
After spending hundreds of hours listening to thousands of bands—a process not unlike college admissions—the fest’s staff came up with this year’s lengthy, diverse lineup. The schedule includes bands both local (Grace Potter and the Nocturnals) and national (Ladytron), signed (Yo la Tengo) and unsigned (The Campaign for Real Time), covering a spray of genres including indie-rock (The Head Set), metal (Exit The Ordinary), punk (Be Your Own Pet), synth-pop (Liam and Me), and hip-hop (Dr. Octagon). So whether you’re a seasoned, local scenester or a new-to-town wallflower, NEMO’s menu promises to have a band or two that fit your musical taste.—Rachel Baker
