2006 BEST Clam Shack, Martha's Vineyard
Don’t snub this rickety shack without a taste test. The Bite experience is as succinct as this tiny clam stand’s name suggests. Patrons pull over to the up-island roadside stop for quick orders of creamy quahog chowder and fried clams, scallops, and zucchini. There’s minimal signage, but the 15-deep line lets you know you’ve arrived. After snacking, work it off by hiking to the nearby Aquinnah lighthouse.
