Deep Ellum

Hidden among Allston’s sports bars and pizza joints and boasting a less-than-ritzy exterior, Deep Ellum may not look like much from the outside. But it’s home to superlative cocktails (a Manhattan menu? Yes, please) and a good selection of craft beers. Food-wise, you’ll find both cheeky bar fare (root-beer-braised pork belly, pretzels with beer cheese) and more-upscale entrées, such as saffron Israeli couscous and a standout niçoise salad.
