FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Boston magazine invites you to take part in the first annual Boston's Best Businesses program*. We are now actively accepting nominations for those individuals or businesses who are making a difference in Boston.

WHO DO I NOMINATE?

The leaders and businesses you believe are making a positive impact on their communities and contributing to the overall advancement of our city in four specific industries:

FASHION & DESIGN:

Is there someone that exceeds expectations in this creative world? Someone who is using their talent to better the community or advance Boston as a major player on a national scale? Tell us about your business of choice, your interior designer, educator, architect, or the blog that is putting Boston on a national map.

FOOD & HOSPITALITY:

What are you craving? Boston has made a name for itself in the culinary field. Who do you think is advancing our city in the epicurean and hospitality world? This city is full of delectable options, from sinful to liberating. Is it a restaurateur, chef, or hotel? A general manager who revamped a business , a retailer  that delivers the goods, or is it a product that helps you create it yourself?

TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION:

We are always looking to make things a little simpler as they inevitably get more complicated.  What product or company do you rely on to get you through your day, keep you healthy, answer your questions, or help improve your life or your business? Who is advancing the tech and innovation field with new software, new advancements in research, or new technologies?

OTHER:

With so many leaders across multiple industries, it is hard to boil all the options down into just a few categories. So we're asking you, is there a business or leader not included in the above categories you think should be recognized? Has your business been revamped by your advertising agency or financial planner? A doctor or hospital that helped ease your road to recovery? Or a landscape architect that transformed your neighborhood? Tell us about it!

Boston magazine will honor the top 10 nominees, chosen by a committee of peers, in our October issue and at a special celebration event. To give back to those who have given this city so much, we will present honorees with a prize package, including eight Boston "experiences", a first prize of a 1979 vintage Mercedes roadster courtesy of European Auto Solutions, and a grand prize of one year of travel on JetBlue.

WHEN DO NOMINATIONS START?

NOW! Nominations will be closed at 5pm EST, Friday, July 27, 2012.

WHO IS ON THE JUDGING COMMITTEE?

The committee of judges  will consist of up to 8 carefully selected thought leaders across multiple industries.

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS/LIMITAIONS?

We ask that you please limit nominees to establishments that fall within Greater Boston. Greater Boston is defined as within interstate 495, plus Cape Cod and the South Coast.

WHO IS A NOMINEE?

A nominee can be any business leader and business owner that has made a significant contribution to the improvement and advancement of the city or in its industry. They are innovative and changing their industry while positively impacting the city of Boston. The nominee and the business must be in business for at least one year and be from the greater Boston area.

The Judging Committee will also consider multiple individuals within a business or organization who meets the criteria mentioned above if you strongly feel that the recognition should go to a number of key individuals within the business or organization.

When nominating someone think not only about what impact this person's business is making, but what they do in their spare time that is making Boston a better place.
