KG Opens for Elliott Yamin?

1191952484As long time readers of ours know, we love us some American Idol. So long as you like your music with product-placed cars and soda, and don’t mind developing slavish devotion to amateur entertainers. Plus, it sends its stars to such noted music festivals as the Big E.

And now, Idol is breaking into a new frontier. After the Celtics game on November 7th, you are going to be rocked, and we don’t mean by Glen “Big Baby” Davis.

No, you will be ROCKED… to sleep by the dulcet adult-contemporary tones of Elliott Yamin.

The American Idol Season 5 contestant got flack for boring the judges during his performances, but Yamin has been successful in his post-Idol days. You may have heard his slow ballad, “Wait for You” on the radio station your dentist’s office plays. With this new Celtics promotion, you can experience Yamin’s music without the copay.

From the press release:

As part of the Verizon Wireless Concert Series, chart-topping artist Elliott Yamin will perform a special concert immediately following the Celtics vs. Denver Nuggets game on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the TD Banknorth Garden. This unique performance is the first of three post-game concerts presented by Verizon Wireless this season.

This isn’t the first time the Celtics have hosted post-game concerts. Pop-rockers The All-American Rejects and R&B star Chris Brown played after games last year, but it’s still kind of funny to imagine kids hanging around with their “Sing it like Yamin it!!” puffy-paint signs waiting for those pesky basketball players clear the parquet.

It truly is a brave new world. You think Red Auerbach would have ever let this happen?

Wow…you are terribly misinformed about Elliott Yamin. I hope you are going to see him perform live so you can at least know what you’re talking about when you write about him.

  2. Karen Says:

Amy, if you’re lucky, you’ll get to see some of this mini-concert. Seriously.

I would love to see you do another article on Elliott after you see him perform live and meet him. He can rock with the best of them and believe me you won’t fall asleep. (I hope this article was done with ‘tongue in cheek’) even so,it came across as very mean spirited.

  4. Teri Says:

The only thing you got right was the spelling of Elliott’s name.
If you can’t make the post-game concert perhaps you will attend one of his shows during his tour that kicked off Oct 5th.
    You’ll be impressed and AWAKE.

  5. Christoph Says:

He was called potentially the best male singer on Idol ever, is this flack?!

  6. eblu Says:

The only thing anyone is going to see at this event is a bunch of middle age and granny type woman ,It no womder he can’t get any younger fans who wants to go to a show filled with grandma’s YUCK !!!! I felt sorry for him when I went to see him in concert my friend ask me was he doing the show as a charity event for senior home?? I know watch how the wacko’s are going to responsed

    Amy,
You must seriously be misinformed on the matter’s of Elliott Yamin in concert. My girlfriend and I just returned from the Park West in Chicago where he opened his Fall Tour. The place was packed to capacity and there was most definitely NO sleeping going on! He ROCKED the crowd into a frenzy…not to sleep! There was a wide variety of peeps at the show but not many grannies I could see. Lots of men, teenagers, 20-30 somethings, a blind couple, a 90ish woman in a wheelchair,a handful of kids and everything in between. For a taste of his live performances, just check on utube….then you might be able to give a more informed review. Thanks so much and look forward to your “post” Elliott review.

  8. christianne Says:

Check Elliott’s my space and you’ll see the variety of ages and races that dig him. Then you can check Wait for You on youTube and see the five million hits and the thousands of teens/young people who leave comments about what his song means to them. So I think he has quite a range of fans who appreciate a great talent.

  9. eblu Says:

AND how old are you ?????? Yeah I checked out his my space and the Granny etrain lol yeah about the old dude in a wheelchair how old was he??? listen most DJ want to play his songs but his fan club is old ladies he lost his cool factor with that ok we get it he luvs his mamma:) and besides wfy is old he waited to long to release a second single behind most establish artist check this out Daughtry got a AMA NOD WHAT DID ELLIOTT GET?? NADA……………… I will waiting for him to come to the north east coast and I can bet the house is going to be filled with grannies. Your serve next!!!!!!!!

  10. Laura Says:

eblu….your comments aren’t even worth the effort of typing on my keyboard. I’m no granny but I’m betting ur around 12…lol! And as far as Daughtry, his cd was out almost a year ago and Elliott’s just this March, if you were so informed you would no there are cut off dates for the awards. WFY is still in the top 10 pop radio, why would there be such a rush for a new single with it’s success? I heard It’s Not Over for months on radio too and Home fell fast on the top 40 whereas Wait for You kept going and going and still is up there. I even like Daughtry too, but if your his fan, you’re an embarrasement to his much more “mature” fans. This is my last comment as I need not defend a “vocal masterclass” any further. Have a blessed evening.

  11. christianne Says:

I love Daughtry so congrats on the AMA nominations. Elliott will get his chance at the Billboard and Grammies. Maybe, he and Chris will both be there.

  12. degamad Says:

    Just drop it, Elliott fans.

  13. Tina Says:

Eblu will find out when he grows up that there are fans of all types of music and artists in this world and Elliott surely doesn’t need him to buy his cd to be a major success, he already is. LOL, stop being a hater Eblu…just go listen to your music and be happy.

  14. Kelly Says:

Someone must of been asleep during Season 5 of Idol because the judges all loved Elliott and had nothing but praise for him. Elliott is the best male vocalist this show has ever had. Daughtry is Nickleback V 2.0 thats why he is successful, he has no orginality whatsoever but Americans eat that crap up. Elliott is doing great on his own w/o the help of the evil Idol machine and a major label. He was great at the concert last night the place was packed with people of all ages, sexes, and races.

  15. eblu Says:

Ok, Ok granny don’t get all up in a bunch HA HA, All I’m saying is because of the granny factor dude loses major cool points who wants to go to a show with granny?? Not me you grannys are not helping him one bit, Just like at the great adventure show there was this old lady with a hat on OMG and she looked to be 90 yrs old. LOL so yeah why waste your time answering to me? because you will bring it on!!!! if I had u guys as fans I would just quit show business all together and this will really get you, he elliott will never get a award with Gold status NEVER he needs to sell over 2 million to even get on a nom list so there you have it Im spent :)buh-bye

  16. no1kata Says:

Saw Elliot over the summer at Slim’s in San Francisco. Very mixed croud (all over 21). Wasn’t what I expected, it FAR EXCEEDED mine and my husbands expectations. He was certainly in great form, his vocals were excellent, and what a pleasant soul coming from his songs. We both really felt his sincere appreciation for music and his audience. I dragged my husband with me (he wasn’t a fan) and he was so impressed, that he bought his own copy of his CD and I think he would now even say he is a fan! Can’t explain how Elliot can express such feeling in his performance. Have to be there. Hope you get to see him live and let us know what you think afterwards. Either way you review it, I know what I saw, heard, and felt… it was all GOOOOOD.

  17. eblu Says:

Good lord U Yamin Fans act like you’re getting a pay check from this dude, any way I’m done here my work is done I got all u grannies up in a bunch I’m just going to sit back and laugh at all your responses LOL good nite GRANDMA’s

  18. Steve Says:

Amy Durjue (the author) is a complete moron. This isn’t Sanjaya we are talking about here—but one of the best male vocalists American Idol has ever had.

Elliott Yamin has sold over 400,000 copies of his debut independent label CD. And, his first single “Wait For You” has gone gold selling over 500,000 copies. Elliott’s second single is called “One Word” and it should be hitting the radio anyday now.

Elliott is also releasing a Christmas CD due out this Sunday exclusively from Target.

When people write articles I think they should know what they are talking about–as this broad has no clue.

Amy, why don’t you go listen to Elliott before you put your foot in your mouth, eh?
After you listen, I bet you’ll retract your stupid comments.

  19. Alisha Says:

I’m 22 and would not consider myself a grandma…..eblu–you must be a disgruntled someone else fan…hmmmm wonder who that could be……meow….anyway, Elliott is terrific and I am so glad I am going to be there. I cannot wait to see him.

  20. soulmusicrocks Says:

    Kelly Clarkson..Because of You
    DAUGHTRY….Home
    Carrie Underwood…Before He Cheats
    Elliott Yamin…Wait For You
    Jordin Sparks…Tatoo
Did they all lose their cool factor?
