Pats to Colts: Cheaters!
So it has come to this. The Pats are accusing the Colts of piping in crowd noise during yesterday’s game, making it difficult for the Patriots to hear their offensive signals. This is not the first time someone has accused the Colts of such malfeasance, and this appears to be the latest in an ongoing tug of war for the very soul of professional football. Or, to put it another way, the Patriots hate the Colts, and vice-versa.
Here’s the best part:
Observers at the game said there seemed to be a “skip” in the sound during the game Sunday, which the Patriots won 24-20. That might confirm the long-held suspicion among many people in the NFL that the Colts play loud crowd noise to help distract opponents when the other team is on offense.
You mean to tell us the Colts can’t even cheat right?
In the past, Indy football honcho Bill Polian has accused the Patriot defensive backs of roughing up the Colts receivers, which led to a specific rule change. He also allegedly, exhorted his team to break Doug Flutie’s leg, while watching the 2005 game in the press box.
(Side note: I have sat near Polian in the press box of another city and while I didn’t hear anything similar to the Flutie incident, he is a tad, uh, animated. Unprofessional would be another adjective we could use.)
The league says they are investigating, and while it will be interesting to see if ESPN Page 2 columnist Gregg Easterbrook uses the occasion to compare the Colts to say, fascist Italy, one shouldn’t hold ones breath.
What’s next? Fake snow from Killington imported just for the playoffs?
UPDATE: CBS is claiming credit for the “skip.” Odd, though that Bob Kraft and the Patriots traveling party would have made the claim based on a production snafu since they were in the building at the time. Rest assured that the Cold War between the two franchises won’t be thawing any time soon.

Just goes to show how classless Robert Kraft & family are, that they can’t even investigate properly before accusing someone.
If you listen to the CBS broadcast, you can clearly hear that the *entire* background noise channel “skips”. If it were skipping noise piped into the dome, you’d hear *some* live crowd noise plus the skipping recorded noise.

It’s true!! My friend works at the RCA Dome and says that they frequently inject noize into the sound system as well as interupt power to the coach-to-quarterback radio repeater….. The real power belongs to the Tech Crew!

The CBS thing doesn’t surprise me.. The sound on CBS telecasts allways has issues. In the Jacksonville v. New Orleans game, the announcers voices were routed through the left surround channel until late in the fourth quarter! The commercials were fine then when they would cut back to the game,the sound would get wierd again!

all the colts have done since polian/manning have taken over is CHEAT…
not only do they pipe up their music, but obviously, they have their own referees’ & of course.. they had the RULES CHANGED 2 years ago so peyton womanning wouldn’t get blown out in playoff games anymore …. (QB roughing calls & pass int on receivers)
how about last years ’sauna dome’ against the Pats when they had the RCA dome heat cranked up to 93 degrees & the Pats lost 6 starters do to cramping & fatigue (in the 1st 1/2)
I love how they already abuse the defensive neutral zone infraction rule….ya know, the colts have their Olinement standup if a defensive player comes across the line before the snap …..ever since football began that would’ve been an offensive penalty, but not anymore….I’m sure the colts lobbied for that one too…
hey & I’m still waiting for the colts to hand over their Superbowl trophey, since their real MVP from that game, dominic rhodes, tested positive for STEROIDS….
BITE IT colts & if you have the displeasure of facing the Pats in foxboro for the championship, they will CRUSH you by far worse than what happened yesterday in your own house….!!!
colts are a disgrace to the NFL & the sooner they crawl back to the arena league where they belong, the sooner the NFL can get back to toughguy, tackle football

The colts are just an awesome team. Simple as that. They strike terror into all teams that they play. They are the standard in the toughest division in football. Plus, they continue to win with an abundance of injuries.
Funny thing is that alot of fans hate the colts. They call them soft. But their defense is fast and hard hitting. They make big plays. And the offense…You can put anyone in there with Peyton Manning under center and he gives the team a chance. I swear, he WILLS them to victory sometimes.
One last thing. I find it hilarious that not only does each team in the AFC South build their team to beat the Colts, but so does New England. There are alot of good teams in the AFC this year and I’d like to think that the Colts at least inspire at least a small bit of that. People want to beat them. It’s good football.
By the way, if the Pat’s play any AFC South team come playoff time, it’s going to give them problems. They better get the lead quick or they are gonna get dominated.
