Bostonian Dolt, you're the reason I moved to the suburbs. My neighbors here actually help each other when it snows. What a concept.

If everyone shovels out the spots on the street, then all the spots will be open. The logic behind saving the spot you shoveled is completely illogical. The streets are a public good. Snow or no snow, you can't just reserve your own little piece of it.

Parking on CITY OWNED streets is a privelage, if you do not want to shovel out a spot then get rid of your car and take the T or park in a garage. The City has the right to set the rules it wants on its streets.

"I do understand and wholeheartedly understand and support the notion of if you shoveled it out you 'own' it."

Well, let's see then. I think some Native Americans probably shoveled some snow off a path somewhere in Boston's history, so hey, they must own that spot. I'm looking forward to casinos and discount cigarette shops springing up on pieces of land staked out by those whose ancestors had the good sense to shovel snow for forty-five minutes hundreds of years ago.

I don't live in Southie or E. Boston but I do understand and wholeheartedly understand and support the notion of if you shoveled it out you "own" it. I don't care if it took you 5 hours or 5 min. You've earned by the labor you put into it.

It would be great if we could be "civilized" enough to do the so called right thing. But the reality is we're not and never will be. It's all part of the lame and naive notion that if we could all do this that or the other thing then world would be a better place. But that has never happened in the history of the world and never will.
