Ralph Nader Is Running for President. Again

1203949863Back in the year 2000, America was amused by the kooky third-party antics of consumer advocate Ralph Nader. Known best as the man who put seatbelts in your car, Nader became the target of Democratic ire after his presence in the 2000 election may have cost Al Gore the presidency. On Sunday’s Meet the Press, Nader announced he’s running for president.

No, Ralph.

The Democrats are livid. Hillary Clinton was so angry she resorted to playground taunts.

“Obviously, it’s not helpful to whomever our Democratic nominee is,” she told reporters as she flew to Rhode Island, according to the Associated Press. “But it’s a free country.”

She then went on to say Barack Obama has cooties, and that his health care plan won’t cover all Americans cursed with that horrible affliction.

Ralph, we had a great time back in 2000. Your green party signs were proudly displayed in student apartments throughout Allston and Brighton. But we already have a candidate who represents the disaffected crowd for this election cycle. His name is Ron Paul.

CLINTON WON’T COMMIT TO RENEW CONSTITUTION…
Illinois Senator Barack Obama has finally signed the American Freedom Pledge, joining his fellow Democratic presidential candidates in encouraging the restoration of basic Constitutional principles after the battering they have taken during the Bush-Cheney era.
All the Democrats, that is, except New York Senator Hillary Clinton.

The “spoiler” issue goes right to the heart of major issues with our election system. And Ralph Nader’s failure to constructively address the issue when asked about it goes to the heart of the suspicious nature of his motivations for running.

I’ve written about it in my article, a short piece called click here .

I hope you’ll check it out if you’re interested in a unique take on Nader’s campaigns.

Nader’s issue chart is interesting if not a bit naive.

One glaring ommission is the campaign finance issue. Now, he might be lumping that into ballot access, which it sorta relates to, but it’s also kind of the core problem. It affects the insurance, military, energy, corporate and Middle East issues.

I always thought some politician would grab election reform as a signature issue after 2000 and none did. When we elect a President, I think we should have one standard voting method.

I’m concerned about this rush to cut military spending, too. I agree all the money we’ve wasted in Iraq is a huge burden. However, Bush has decimated the military and I think we do have some legitimate rebuilding of it ahead of us.

Corporate personhood is a bit esoteric for a lot of Americans. Sticking to bashing big companies is a better idea. Impeachment is a ship that has sailed.
