I had the good fortune to run into Ms. Bullock today (April 9th) in Rockport. After an appointment I decided to go have breakfast at the Greenery, and was surprised to see the tell-tale trucks out there. Getting a chai at a coffee shop, I didn't really realize who I was standing next to until I had my order out. She was just getting coffee like a normal person - and when I spoke to her, she was absolutely the nicest person in the World. It was such a pleasure to talk with her - and she was amazingly beautiful in person as well. I was always a fan of hers before - but having met her, more so now that I see how genuine and nice she was to all the people in the shop. I did not see anyone do anything out of the ordinary - it seemed people were treating her "normally" and it was nice to see that people were not "freaking out" as you say above. She had nothing but wonderful things to say about Boston and the coastal towns. She was an absolute sweetheart - and I was lucky to get to talk with her. I hope she has a great time in Boston, and on the North Shore (where I live) while she is filming.
