Another Unbelievable Red Sox Story

If the producers who hope to open a movie studio in Weymouth are looking for script ideas, we’ve got a doozy of an “inspired by a true story” pitch for them.

1207859704A pipe fitter from the working class town of Chicopee steps into the New Corner Variety.  He’s mourning the loss of his nephew, who recently died of cancer.  Reflecting fondly back on the Jimmy Fund, which works closely with his nephew’s favorite baseball team, the man is inspired to buy a Limited Edition World Series Red Sox Instant Ticket.

But you can’t make up what happens next.

Ken J. Swords won $1 million on the Limited Edition World Series Red Sox Instant Ticket just hours after the new game hit the market on Tuesday. Swords said he bought the ticket to honor his nephew, Evan.

If that doesn’t melt the heart of the most skeptical moviegoer, then they aren’t worth a tub of popcorn.

I have to admit that $10 million, and the backup catcher spot on the ‘09 Sox, is a pretty good Grand Prize.
Unfortunately, my “inner Yankee” prevents me from gambling.
