This week has been an great one for sports fans. The Celtics wound down the regular season in advance of the playoffs. The Red Sox played the Cleveland Indians and a Pope-shortened series against the Yankees. And the Bruins started what we thought would be a quick 4-game playoff series against the Montreal Canadiens.

But the Bruins have held their own against the heavily-favored Habs, which has left both Bruins and Red Sox fans wondering what channel their team is on.

It’s been a week-long scavenger hunt to find either the Sox or the Bruins on TV. On Tuesday, the Sox were relegated to the non-HD signal of CN8. Last night, the potential Bruins elimination game got bumped to NESNplus channels.

I love watching Manny Ramirez unload on the Yankees in crystal-clear Hi-Def as much as the next Sox fan, but it’s only the beginning of the baseball season. The Bruins are in the playoffs. Would it have killed the folks over at NESN to tell baseball fans that the Sox are going to face the Yankees another 13 times in the regular season and they can deal with one standard definition rivalry game?

After Montreal fans overwhelmed Bruins fans at the Garden this week, it must have been sweet for Bruins fans to see their team humiliate the the bleue, blanc, et rouge in their own house. Too bad they had to watch it in the haze of low resolution.
