You may have missed the Marathon, but you can still soak up some of the atmosphere. Watch the champions and top age finishers collect their awards at the Boston Marathon Awards Ceremony. Once the winners have safely stashed their trophies, they’ll prepare to dance the night away at the Post-Race Dance Party.

Fly Eagles Fly

Yikes. When did Boston College become Florida State?

Over the weekend, Brady Smith became the latest Eagle to have his mug shot taken when the defensive end was charged with sexual assault. If that wasn’t bad enough, he was also accused of breaking and entering.

Questions For. . . Brett Portanova and Eric Poydar

Filmmakers Brett Portanova and Eric Poydar were two production assistants when they met on the set of State and Main. After they were recruited to play football games by Alec Baldwin, the two Massachusetts natives became friends. They then moved back home and started writing scripts together.

1208551321Their latest film, Larry (the Actor) will premiere at the Independent Film Festival Boston. The short film, which stars the late Lionel Mark Smith as a black actor who’s run out of patience with Los Angeles.

We talked to the filmmakers about the boom of moviemaking in the Bay State, why two white guys decided to write about a black actor, and why their movie isn’t like a Star Wars prequel.

Notes on Celtics-Hawks Game 1

1190922388It was loud at the Garden last night. How loud? “I heard it in the locker room before the game,” Doc Rivers said. “I was in the bathroom… combing my hair.” (ba-dum)

It was loud, it was fun (Lucky was on stilts for the pre-game introduction, and he later got Big Papi to hold the ball for a trampoline dunk), and it was a blowout. It was about as perfect a start to their four-game series as the heavily-favored Celtics could have asked for.

Weekend Redux: What You Missed

Just because you spent all weekend enjoying the sun doesn’t mean the world stopped moving. We round up the notable stories you missed.

The latest round of phantom voting continues to shake Beacon Hill. Several rank-and-file House members claim they’ve seen legislators vote for absent colleagues, but leadership is keeping quiet about its investigation. House Speaker Sal DiMasi’s spokesman told the Herald he’s “looking in to it.”

The phantoms in the House may soon be voting on a Senate-approved measure that would ban pharmaceutical companies from providing gifts to doctors. Other states have similar measures, but Massachusetts would be the first state to ban gifts of any monetary value. Naturally, drug companies are less than thrilled.

“Strictly interpreted, the ‘anything of value ban’ could bring clinical trials to a halt in Massachusetts, severely cut into necessary and mandated continuing educational studies undertaken by physicians, and mean that fewer new medicines are readily available to patients,” the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council wrote in a letter to lawmakers.
